Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers all categories and includes the percentage change data, meeting the requirements of the task. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you identify the main trends, the description of the data is occasionally inaccurate or confusing, such as stating 'maximum income... was more 2016' when the data shows 2015 was higher. The comparison between the table and the graph is attempted, but the lack of clarity in the data presentation makes it difficult for the reader to follow the specific figures. To improve, ensure that the data points cited are precise and that the relationship between the two years is clearly articulated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is hampered by awkward phrasing and a lack of cohesive devices. Transitions like 'On the other hand' and 'Furthermore' are used, but they do not always connect the ideas effectively. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to distinguish between the graph data and the table data. The progression of ideas is mechanical rather than fluid, and the overall structure would benefit from more sophisticated linking words to guide the reader through the comparison of the two years.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'income', 'trade', and 'trends'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'trade of income was huge' and 'textiles was significantly varied'. Some terms are used incorrectly, such as 'occupied to' when describing percentages. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'experienced a marginal decline', or 'witnessed a significant surge', and ensure that nouns and verbs are used in their correct collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'table indicates downward trends', 'all the other sector shows'), missing articles, and incorrect preposition usage. Sentence structures are generally simple, and attempts at complex sentences often contain errors, such as 'textiles varies up to 15.24% dominant'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of semicolons and commas. A greater focus on basic grammatical accuracy and the correct use of tense when describing past data is necessary to improve your score.
