Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to cover the data provided, but it fails to effectively summarise the main features or make meaningful comparisons. The report is essentially a list of figures rather than an analytical summary. The data presentation is inconsistent, with confusing terminology such as '50 one thousand million' and '40 endless amount', which misrepresents the actual values. Furthermore, the percentage changes provided in the final paragraph do not accurately reflect the data in the table, indicating a failure to interpret the information correctly. The response lacks an overview, which is a critical requirement for Task 1.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay is poorly structured. While there are three paragraphs, they do not follow a logical progression. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often inappropriate, such as 'At the first stage' and 'At the finally stage', which are not suitable for describing data. The lack of clear transitions between the description of the values and the percentage changes makes the text difficult to follow. The referencing is also unclear, as the connection between the categories and the figures is often disjointed.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often inaccurate. The student struggles with numerical terminology, using phrases like 'one thousand million' and 'endless amount' incorrectly. There is a lack of variety in reporting verbs and descriptive language. The misuse of terms like 'ratio' instead of 'percentage' and the repetitive use of 'after that' demonstrate a restricted range. The errors in terminology significantly impede the clarity of the information being presented.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple, fragmented sentences. There are frequent errors in basic sentence structure, such as 'The provided chart below illustrates... after that table shows the ratio change', which lacks proper conjunctions or punctuation. Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage are also problematic. The text lacks complex structures, and the frequent errors in syntax and punctuation make the writing difficult to read and understand.
