Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the data, but there are significant inaccuracies in the interpretation of the figures. For example, you state that gems and jewellery accounted for 50% in 2015, which contradicts the provided data. Furthermore, the description of trends is inconsistent with the table, such as claiming agriculture products stayed constant at 40% when the data indicates otherwise. While you attempt to report the main features and make comparisons, the factual errors regarding the data points hinder the overall task achievement. To improve, ensure that you carefully cross-reference your written summary with the specific numbers provided in the visual prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Furthermore', and 'In contrast' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hampered by the factual inaccuracies mentioned in the task achievement section. Additionally, some referencing is slightly mechanical. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the transition between sentences flows more naturally, rather than relying on repetitive structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'constituted', and 'significantly'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'jewllery', 'amd', 'te', 'additoin', and 'experiencd'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. Additionally, some word choices are awkward, such as 'a minimally increased was seen' (should be 'a minimal increase') and 'stayed contant to 40%'. Improving your control over word forms and proofreading for spelling will help elevate your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'the exports of gems and jewllery was constituted for' (passive voice error), 'a minimally increased was seen' (incorrect word form), and 'textile goods experiencd a marginally increased' (incorrect word form). Punctuation and article usage are also inconsistent. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the clarity of your writing. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct word forms will lead to significant improvement.
