Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the data and provided a clear overview. You included relevant comparisons, such as noting that petroleum products were the highest earners and highlighting the significant growth in textiles. However, the report could be improved by ensuring all data points are accurate. For instance, you mentioned a 15.24% rise for textiles, but the table likely indicates 15.2%. Additionally, ensure that all figures are clearly linked to the provided data. You covered all categories, which is excellent, but ensure that the distinction between the bar chart (values) and the table (percentages) is consistently maintained throughout the analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You used some cohesive devices effectively, such as 'Overall,' 'In 2015,' and 'In the following year.' However, the transition between the general overview and the specific details could be smoother. Some sentences feel slightly disconnected, and the use of referencing could be more varied to avoid repetitive structures. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the clarity of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'negligible,' 'substantially,' and 'significant dip.' These choices help convey the trends effectively. There are a few minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'earning growth' instead of 'export growth' and 'earning form' (a typo for 'from'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and ensure that your spelling is consistently accurate throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. Most of your sentences are clear and easy to understand. However, there are some grammatical slips, such as 'Earning form exporting petroleum products were' (subject-verb agreement error) and 'There were a significant dip' (should be 'was'). Additionally, ensure consistent punctuation, especially when dealing with decimals or percentages. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching the higher bands where error-free sentences are the norm.
