Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the data, including the overall trends and specific figures for the categories provided. However, the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, you mention '60 billion' for petroleum in 2015, but the data provided in the prompt is not fully utilized or interpreted with complete accuracy. While you identify the highest growth and the decline in gems and jewellery, the reporting of figures is occasionally confusing (e.g., '9 engineerg goods earn 70 billion'). To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are transcribed accurately and that the comparison between years is clearly linked to the percentage changes provided.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as the abrupt transition 'Turning into a detail' and the fragmented sentence structure in the second paragraph. The use of punctuation is also problematic, with periods placed incorrectly, which disrupts the flow of information. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'conversely', 'in contrast', 'furthermore') and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one without grammatical interruptions.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. There are frequent spelling errors such as 'illusrate', 'dollor', 'whisho', 'preseny', and 'mony'. These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader. While you attempt to use terms like 'growth rate' and 'declined', the range is limited. To improve, focus on accurate spelling and incorporating more varied vocabulary related to data trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'experienced a surge', or 'remained stable', rather than repeating 'earn' or 'growth' multiple times.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Textiles... is grew') and incorrect verb tenses ('Textile earn 5 billion'). The misuse of full stops within sentences creates fragments that make the text difficult to read. To improve, you should practice using complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, and pay closer attention to basic subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing past data.
