Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the data, but the presentation is inconsistent and contains significant inaccuracies. While you identify the categories and the percentage changes, the data points provided in the body paragraphs often contradict the provided table (e.g., stating petroleum increased to 62$ when the table shows 60$ to 62$ is a 3.33% change, but your text mentions 3%). Furthermore, the summary of the percentage changes is confusing and lacks clarity. To improve, ensure that the figures cited are accurate and that the comparison between the two years is clearly structured, rather than listing figures in a way that obscures the trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'After that' and 'In addition', which do not effectively link the ideas. The referencing is also problematic; for instance, the transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. The paragraphing is present but does not serve to group information logically, as the second body paragraph repeats information already discussed or misinterprets the data. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'jwellery', 'earring' (instead of earnings), and 'graduallly'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends precisely; for example, you use 'slighty' repeatedly instead of varying your language with terms like 'marginal', 'minimal', or 'a slight rise'. The misuse of currency symbols and the confusion between absolute values and percentages indicate a need for more precise terminology. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends and ensure accurate spelling and word choice.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Petroleum products has', 'tables gives'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after periods and commas. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty or lack the necessary control. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and proofreading for punctuation and spacing errors. Reducing the number of errors will help the reader follow your analysis more easily.
