Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all categories and provides data for both years. However, the overview is problematic; you state 'its prizes were decreased over the period of time,' which is factually incorrect as most categories saw an increase. The summary lacks a clear, accurate synthesis of the main trends. While you have selected key features, the analysis is somewhat mechanical, listing data points rather than comparing them effectively. To improve, ensure your overview accurately reflects the general trend (e.g., most categories experienced growth) and focus on highlighting significant differences or similarities between categories rather than just listing individual figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is repetitive and sometimes awkward. For example, starting multiple sentences with 'The [category] were earn' creates a monotonous rhythm. The use of 'And' to start sentences is informal and detracts from the academic tone. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'its percentage was 5.18%,' where 'its' is ambiguous. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'conversely,' 'in contrast,' 'furthermore') and ensure that pronouns clearly refer back to the intended noun.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use the phrase 'were earn' (grammatically incorrect) and 'increased up to.' There is little attempt to use a range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'surged,' 'plummeted,' 'remained stable,' or 'fluctuated.' Additionally, there are errors in word choice, such as 'prizes' instead of 'prices' or 'values,' and 'slidely' instead of 'slightly.' To reach a higher band, you need to incorporate more precise terminology for describing data and avoid repeating the same basic verbs and structures throughout the response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, particularly with verb forms and subject-verb agreement. Examples include 'The petroleum products were earn' (should be 'earned'), 'there percentage' (should be 'their'), and 'its prizes were decreased' (passive voice misuse). The sentence structures are mostly simple or contain errors when attempting complexity. Punctuation is generally functional, but the persistent errors in basic grammar impede the flow and clarity of the report. Focusing on correct verb tenses and ensuring subject-verb agreement will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
