Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the data, such as the highest earners and the percentage changes. However, the report lacks a clear overview or summary paragraph, which is essential for a Band 7 or higher. The data presentation is somewhat informal, and the analysis of the figures is slightly imprecise; for instance, stating that products generated '$65 to $70 billion' in 'each export year' is confusing, as the table provides specific values for 2015 and 2016 rather than a range. To improve, ensure you clearly separate the overview from the detailed data points and avoid conversational phrases like 'Now lets talk about'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is written as a single block of text, which significantly hinders readability and logical progression. Paragraphing is a fundamental requirement for IELTS Task 1. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices (e.g., 'If we compare', 'Now lets talk about'), the flow is mechanical and the lack of paragraph breaks makes it difficult for the reader to distinguish between the introduction, the overview, and the supporting details. Using clear paragraphing to separate the overview from the body paragraphs would greatly improve the structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and variety expected at higher bands. Phrases like 'generating the most amount of money' and 'it is a good news' are slightly unnatural or grammatically imprecise. The student relies on basic descriptors and repeats the word 'generated' multiple times. To reach a higher band, the student should incorporate more precise terminology related to data reporting, such as 'accounted for', 'experienced a marginal increase', or 'witnessed a downward trend', and avoid informal phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains several grammatical errors that affect the quality of the writing. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'The exports consists', 'products which includes') and punctuation, such as missing spaces after periods. The sentence structures are relatively simple, with limited use of complex grammatical forms. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors and the lack of structural variety limit the score. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and improving sentence variety would be beneficial.
