Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have attempted to identify main features, the analysis is incomplete and cuts off abruptly at the end of the second paragraph. You have not provided a comprehensive summary of the data, and the lack of sufficient detail means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, ensure you cover all categories mentioned in the prompt and provide a complete overview of the data trends, including specific figures to support your comparisons. The current response is too brief to fully satisfy the requirements of an Academic Task 1 report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into two short paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover', which helps to link ideas. However, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the abrupt ending prevents a logical conclusion or a fully developed structure. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and that you use a wider range of linking words to connect your sentences and ideas more fluidly throughout the entire report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You use basic terms like 'amount', 'attain', and 'show', which are adequate but lack the precision required for a higher band. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'dada' (likely a typo for 'data') and 'escalate in percentage' (which is grammatically awkward). To improve, try to use more varied vocabulary related to data description, such as 'fluctuated', 'experienced a growth of', or 'remained stable'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you describe the trends more accurately and professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'the amount of categories of products exported' is imprecise, and 'all the categories of product shows escalate' contains subject-verb agreement errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence structure. Ensure that your complex sentences are constructed accurately and proofread your work to eliminate minor slips that distract the reader.
