Student answer (Band 6.0)
The bar chart provides information on a nation's exports of products- petroleum products, engineered goods, gems and jewellery, agricultural products, and textiles between 2015 and 2016.
Overall, it can be seen that exports for certain goods were higher in 2016 while, exports for gems and jewellery was higher in 2015. The table also provides some changes in values of goods during that period.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features and provided a clear overview. You covered all categories and included relevant data points for both years. However, there is a significant error in your data interpretation: you stated 'engineered goods at approximately 58%', but the table shows 58 billion dollars, not a percentage. Additionally, you occasionally confuse the units (e.g., 'textiles were the exported amounting to only about 35 billion dollars' is grammatically incomplete). While you addressed the task requirements, more precise reporting of the data and careful proofreading of the figures would elevate the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'In 2015', 'Nevertheless', and 'Meanwhile' to guide the reader. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the data description from the percentage changes. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing in the final paragraph could be smoother. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the structure supports the information provided effectively.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'surge', 'amounting to', and 'decreased'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'textiles were the exported' is grammatically awkward, and 'textile industry experienced a surge in in 2016' contains a repetition error. While you attempt to use varied vocabulary, the precision is occasionally lacking, which prevents a higher score. Focusing on more precise collocations related to data reporting would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'textiles were the exported' (missing noun) and 'textile industry experienced a surge in in 2016' (repetition). You also have some issues with article usage and prepositions. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the response, and the errors do not impede communication. To improve, ensure that you check for subject-verb agreement and missing articles in your final review.
