Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features and providing relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted the growth in textiles and the decline in gems and jewellery. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial; for instance, you mention 'petroleum products generated the highest amount' but could have provided a more precise comparison of the figures. While the main trends are clear, the report lacks a more analytical approach to the data, which prevents it from reaching a higher band. The overview is present but could be more effectively integrated to highlight the most significant trends rather than just listing them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'In both years', and 'Whereas' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the transition between the overview and the first body paragraph could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'Same as engineer goods', which lacks a proper grammatical link to the previous sentence. Improving the variety and sophistication of your linking words would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion change', 'generated', and 'noticeable improvement'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'the most gaining products' instead of 'the highest-earning products' and 'create income' instead of 'generated revenue'. There are also minor errors in formatting, such as 'e2016' and 'dollar 60 billions'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that your terminology accurately reflects the data provided in the table and chart.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'Each product has increased the value' should be 'The value of each product increased'). There are also issues with sentence construction, such as 'Same as engineer goods create income', which is grammatically incomplete. Punctuation is inconsistent, with some missing spaces after commas and periods. To reach a higher band, you need to demonstrate better control over complex structures and reduce the frequency of basic grammatical errors.
