Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the task by identifying the main categories and comparing the figures for 2015 and 2016. However, the analysis is quite superficial. While you mention the values for each category, you fail to incorporate the 'percentage change' data explicitly requested in the prompt, which is a key feature of the table. The overview is also very basic and lacks a clear synthesis of the trends. To improve, ensure you highlight the most significant changes (e.g., the growth in engineering goods vs. the decline in gems and jewellery) rather than simply listing the data points for each year.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organised into short, simple paragraphs, but the flow is disjointed. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link ideas; for instance, the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. The use of 'and' to start sentences is repetitive and informal. To achieve a higher band, you should use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'In contrast,' 'Furthermore,' 'Conversely') to create a more logical progression of information and improve the overall structure of your report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You frequently use the same verbs, such as 'approched' (misspelled) and 'earn a good profits'. There is little attempt to use academic or precise language to describe trends. For example, instead of saying 'approched to', you should use more accurate verbs like 'increased to', 'rose to', or 'declined to'. Additionally, there are several spelling errors, such as 'petroluem', 'texttiles', and 'thy', which detract from the clarity of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies almost exclusively on simple sentence structures. There is a lack of complex sentence forms, which limits your ability to show grammatical control. Punctuation is also problematic, with inconsistent spacing around commas and periods. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'there are 5 category'). To improve, focus on combining simple sentences using relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions and pay closer attention to basic grammatical accuracy, such as pluralisation and verb tense consistency.
