Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by summarizing the main features of both the bar chart and the table. You successfully identified the key trends, such as the growth in petroleum and engineered goods, and made relevant comparisons. However, there is a significant factual inconsistency between your text and the provided data. You stated that agricultural products had the 'least percentage rate' at 0.81%, but the table shows gems and jewellery at 5.18% and petroleum at 3%, while agricultural products actually showed a decline (-0.81%). Accuracy in data reporting is crucial for a higher band score. Ensure you double-check the signs (plus/minus) when interpreting tables.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the general trends to specific data points. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'meanwhile', 'conversely', and 'turning to the table' to link your ideas effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different data sets. To improve, ensure that your referencing is precise; for example, when you mention 'all category', it should be 'all categories' to maintain grammatical cohesion within the sentence structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportional change', 'recorded', and 'dipped slightly'. There are some minor errors, such as 'gems and jewelleryy' (spelling) and 'bar illustrate' (subject-verb agreement). You also use 'category' where the plural 'categories' is required. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Expanding your repertoire to include more varied synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' would enhance the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical slips that occur throughout the text. For instance, 'The bar illustrate' should be 'The bar chart illustrates', and 'agricultural products remain the least' should be 'remained the lowest'. There are also issues with article usage and pluralization, such as 'table chart' and 'all category'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing data from the past.
