Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the overall trend and specific category changes. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention the highest and lowest performers, the comparison between 2015 and 2016 values is not fully developed. The third paragraph contains confusing phrasing, such as 'at fourth and fifth position Agricultural and Textiles products were import', which is factually unclear and misinterprets the data. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are clearly linked to the correct years and categories, and avoid vague descriptions that do not accurately reflect the provided table and chart.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into three paragraphs, which is a logical structure for a Task 1 response. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by awkward phrasing and some mechanical use of cohesive devices. For instance, the transition 'Through out all the exports of one's country' is unnatural. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the two years. While paragraphing is present, the internal flow within the final paragraph is disjointed, which impacts the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'percentage change', 'categories', and 'respectively'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'import' instead of 'exported' and 'in terms or dollar value' instead of 'in terms of'. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more varied reporting verbs and precise terminology related to data trends, such as 'experienced a decline' or 'witnessed a significant growth'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Through out' (should be 'Throughout'), 'one's country' (unnecessary possessive), and 'in terms or dollar value' (preposition error). Additionally, the sentence 'at fourth and fifth position Agricultural and Textiles products were import' is grammatically flawed and confusing. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to suggest a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct preposition usage would significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
