Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers the main features of the data, but the analysis is inconsistent and lacks precision. While you identify the categories and mention some trends, the description of the data is often inaccurate. For example, you state that petroleum and engineered goods rose from 3% to 8.5%, which does not clearly distinguish between the two categories or accurately reflect the provided data. Furthermore, the summary is somewhat confused, as you mention 'good profit' and 'success', which are subjective interpretations not supported by the data. To improve, focus on reporting the figures accurately and comparing the categories more systematically without adding external commentary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The transition between sentences is often abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'in 2015 to 2016'. The final paragraph introduces a general conclusion that does not effectively synthesise the information presented in the body paragraphs. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'conversely', 'in contrast', 'meanwhile') to connect your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'rise', 'decline', and 'moving forward'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'straight 5.18%' and 'highly in demand', which do not fit the academic tone required for a data summary. You should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to trends and data, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant increase'. Expanding your range of descriptive adjectives and adverbs will help you convey the information more accurately and professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'graph demonstrate', 'textile is decline'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures. The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors. For example, 'The graph shows the product category which are...' is grammatically incorrect. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb tenses.
