Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the data. You successfully highlighted the highest earners and the percentage changes. However, there are significant inaccuracies in the data reporting. For example, you stated petroleum products earned 71 billion in 2015 and 70 billion in 2015, which is contradictory and confusing. Additionally, you misidentified the years for specific figures, such as stating 40.5 billion for gems and jewellery in 2016 twice. To improve, ensure that the data extracted from the table and chart is transcribed accurately and that comparisons are logically presented. The overview is present but lacks clarity due to these factual errors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Starting with', 'On the other side', and 'In regards of', though some of these are used mechanically or incorrectly. The progression of ideas is generally logical, moving from an overview to specific details. However, the referencing is sometimes unclear, and the final paragraph feels like a redundant summary that does not add new information. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, distinct focus without repeating the overview.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey the main points, such as 'illustrates', 'earnings', and 'percentage changes'. However, there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'catogeries', 'throught', 'sifnificantly', 'subtiantially', 'proprtion', 'indusry') and some awkward word choices like 'stood on the second number' or 'got changes in modest way'. These errors occasionally make the text difficult to read. To improve, focus on proofreading for spelling and learning common collocations used in data description, such as 'experienced a modest increase' rather than 'got changes'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'alongside the table represents' (should be 'and the table represents') and 'In regards of chages' (should be 'Regarding changes'). There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. To improve, work on sentence construction, particularly ensuring that your verbs agree with your subjects and that your prepositions are used correctly in a data-reporting context.
