Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to accurately interpret the figures provided in the table. There is significant confusion between the export values (in billions) and the percentage change figures. For instance, you describe petroleum products as '6.5%' in 2015, whereas the table indicates this is the percentage change, not the export value. Furthermore, the data points mentioned (e.g., '$35' for textiles) do not align with the provided table, suggesting a misreading of the visual information. While you identify the main categories, the lack of accurate data reporting prevents a clear overview of the trends. To improve, ensure you distinguish between absolute values and percentage changes clearly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical progression is hindered by the inaccurate data reporting. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore', but they feel somewhat mechanical. The referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when discussing the categories, as the connection between the years and the specific data points is muddled. The flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed because the information presented does not logically follow the visual evidence provided in the prompt. Improving the accuracy of your data will naturally help improve the coherence of your analysis.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You frequently use phrases like 'highest export earning' and 'medium amount of money'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'lowest medium of export' and 'which were earn', which are grammatically incorrect and imprecise. While you attempt to use category names correctly, the overall range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with the precision required for an Academic Task 1 response. To reach a higher band, focus on using more varied verbs to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a marginal increase'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'the information of one country exports' (should be 'the country's exports'), 'there is small changes seen' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'which were earn' (incorrect verb tense). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often contain errors. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that you are using the correct tense when describing data from the past.
