Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the export data. However, the analysis is somewhat inconsistent. For instance, you mention that agricultural products remained the same in both years, yet the table shows a 0.81% increase. Furthermore, the description of the data is occasionally inaccurate; you state that gems and jewellery fell to 5.18%, but the table indicates a decline of 5.18%, not a value of 5.18%. While you have selected key features, the lack of precision in reporting the figures and the contradictory statements between the text and the data limit the effectiveness of your summary.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'next' to sequence your points. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the graph data and the table data is abrupt. Some sentences are poorly linked, such as 'Looking from an overall perspective, that the exports...', which lacks a clear subject. Improving the use of referencing and ensuring that sentences flow more naturally would enhance the overall coherence of the report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'categories', 'proportion', and 'dramatically'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'stipulates the percentage change' (instead of 'shows' or 'indicates'), 'earning in petroleum product' (should be 'earnings'), and 'value is growth to' (should be 'grew by'). These errors occasionally hinder the precision of your report. To reach a higher band, focus on using more accurate terminology for describing trends and data changes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the changes in value is rise') and incorrect verb forms ('engineering goods are increased', 'value is rises'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and some sentences are grammatically incomplete or awkward. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement will help improve your score.
