Student answer (Band 5.0)
The bar chart displays the information about the amount spent, which is measured in billions Dollars, by the country on the various categories (petroleum products, engineered goods, gems and jewellery, agriculture products and textiles) in between the time period of 2016 to 2015 while the table illustrates the proportion of changing in that categories by comparing in the same years.
Overall, in the terms of petroleum products, the country more spent on this in 2016 as opposed to in 2015 and the percentage of engineered goods was also increased by 3%. The expenditure on textiles was lower in 2015 as compared in 2016 and 15.24% of the value was changed in between 2015 to 2016.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have attempted to identify some main features, the analysis is very limited. You have only covered a small portion of the data provided in the chart and table, failing to report on all categories or provide a comprehensive overview. To improve, you must ensure you describe all key trends and make meaningful comparisons across all categories. The current response is too brief to fully address the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into an introduction and a brief overview, but it lacks a clear structure for presenting the data. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and sometimes awkward, such as 'in the terms of' and 'in between the time period of'. Paragraphing is insufficient for a report of this nature. To improve, you should group related data points together logically and use a wider range of linking words to guide the reader through your analysis of the trends.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is somewhat repetitive and basic. Phrases like 'amount spent' and 'proportion of changing' are imprecise. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'more spent on this' instead of 'higher expenditure'. The range of vocabulary is limited, which restricts your ability to describe the data with precision. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic collocations and varied terminology to describe trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'remained stable', or 'experienced a significant rise'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity, such as 'the proportion of changing in that categories' and 'as compared in 2016'. Sentence structures are relatively simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions when describing statistical data. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures will also help demonstrate a higher level of grammatical control.
