Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the task by identifying main features and trends. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and contains inaccuracies. For instance, you mention that petroleum and engineering goods 'always take higher rank,' but the data provided in the prompt is not fully utilized to support this with specific figures. Furthermore, the description of the percentage changes is occasionally confusing, and the mention of 'unavoidable circumstances' is an external interpretation not supported by the data. To improve, ensure you accurately report the figures from the table and focus on comparing the categories rather than speculating on the reasons behind the changes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or misused, such as 'businessed by' or 'in lue of'. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is clear, but the logical progression within the paragraphs is hindered by awkward phrasing and grammatical errors. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that each sentence flows logically from the previous one without relying on repetitive structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors in word choice and spelling. Examples include 'exxports' (exports), 'goodas' (goods), 'petrolium' (petroleum), and 'businessed'. The phrase 'in lue of' is used incorrectly here, as it means 'instead of' rather than 'due to'. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary, the frequent spelling mistakes and incorrect word forms impede the clarity of the message. You should focus on mastering the spelling of key terms and using verbs that accurately describe statistical changes, such as 'increased' or 'decreased', without inventing non-standard terminology.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. Frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'these two products has reached') and punctuation (e.g., unnecessary commas) are present. Additionally, there are several instances of awkward phrasing that make sentences difficult to parse, such as 'the main products that were exported by the region is'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of grammatical slips prevents the response from achieving a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and ensuring that your sentence structures are grammatically sound.
