Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The bar chart illustrates the export's amount of a country in different categories during two years of 2015 and 2016 and the table provides comparison of two years in the percentage change of each type of export.
Overall, the earnings from different export products rose in the second year of 2016, only gems and jewellery's value decreased a little, likewise the table shows the percentage change in values of the goods.
To commence with the export earnings, a country was earning 60 billion dollars from petroleum products in 2015 and this amount raised a little in the following year. Engineering good's value also increased by almost 4 billion dollars in 2016. Similarly value of textiles showed an upward trend and rise from 35 billion in 2015 to 42 billion in 2016. Agricultural products remained stable in both years. However only gems and jewellery's earnings lessened in 2016 compared to 2015.
change in the percentage of values is provided in the table which shows that petroleum products rose by 3 percent in 2016, agricultural products by 0.81% and engineering goods by 8.5%. A huge change of 15.24% was observed in textiles. Additionally 5.18% decrease occured in the percentage value of gems and jewellery.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all requirements of the task by summarizing the main features of both the bar chart and the table. You have successfully identified the key trends, such as the overall increase in export values and the specific decline in gems and jewellery. However, the analysis could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the categories rather than listing them sequentially. For instance, noting that textiles experienced the most significant percentage growth (15.24%) compared to the relatively stable agricultural sector would have provided a more insightful overview. The data is generally accurate, though ensure that the distinction between absolute values (billions) and percentage changes is clearly maintained throughout the report.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from general trends to specific data points. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Similarly', 'However', and 'Additionally' to link sentences. However, the transition between the description of the bar chart and the table is somewhat abrupt. The final paragraph could be better integrated into the overall structure rather than appearing as a separate list of figures. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between paragraphs would help elevate the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'upward trend', 'lessened', and 'remained stable'. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'export's amount' instead of 'export values' and 'Engineering good's' instead of 'Engineering goods'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more varied reporting verbs and precise nouns to describe economic data, and be careful with the placement of apostrophes in plural nouns.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'during two years of 2015 and 2016' (which is redundant) and 'this amount raised a little' (should be 'rose'). Additionally, there are punctuation errors, specifically the misuse of apostrophes in 'good's' and 'jewellery's'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will help improve the accuracy of your writing.
