IELTS Writing Task 1 question

below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The table provides comparative information about export earnings and percentage change in values of five different categories of one state.

Overall, Export earning increased in categories of petroleum products, Engineering goods, and Textiles over the given period. Percentage change in value of textile increased dramatically, while no significant change was observed in export earnings and value of gems and jewellery and agricultural products.

Petroleum products rose steadily and recorded more than 60 billion $ in 2016, with 8.5 % change in value, followed by engineering goods at around same record with 3% change in value. Conversely, export earnings for gems slightly declined in 2016, which accounted for around 49 billion$ in 2016.

Export earnings on agricultural products stayed remained almost at 40 billion$, with the 0.81% change in value. while, textile earning recorded a significant rise from 35 to 40 billion in 2016,with the drastic change in value of 15.24%.
