Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all key features of the data, including the main trends and comparisons. You successfully identified the highest and lowest categories and noted the general upward trend. However, the task also required you to report the percentage change provided in the table, which you omitted entirely. Including these specific figures would have provided a more comprehensive analysis. Additionally, there is a factual inconsistency: you stated that 'every product rose steadily' in the conclusion, which contradicts your earlier correct observation that Gems and jewellery declined. Ensure your summary accurately reflects all data points to achieve a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Similarly', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is slightly hindered by the contradictory statement in the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the specific details. To improve, focus on ensuring that your concluding summary is perfectly aligned with the data presented in the body paragraphs to maintain a consistent logical flow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'generated', 'revenue', 'experienced a decline', and 'relatively stable'. There are some minor errors, such as 'Gems an jewellery' (missing 'd') and 'Textiles displays rise' (should be 'displayed a rise'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey meaning, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Incorporating more varied reporting verbs and precise collocations related to data trends would enhance your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that, while not impeding communication, are noticeable. For example, 'Textiles displays rise' lacks an article and has incorrect verb tense agreement. The phrase 'approximately, $64 billion dollars' contains an unnecessary comma and redundant wording (using both the symbol and the word 'dollars'). Additionally, 'Gems an jewellery' is a spelling error. To reach a higher band, focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement, consistent tense usage, and eliminating redundant phrasing.
