Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the data, including the overall trends and specific category comparisons. However, there are significant factual inaccuracies regarding the years mentioned (e.g., referring to 2025 and 2026 instead of 2015 and 2016), which undermines the accuracy of the report. While the overview identifies the highest income and general trends, the misinterpretation of the data labels and dates prevents a higher score. The selection of data is generally relevant, but the reporting of figures needs to be more precise to ensure the information is conveyed accurately to the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'However', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' are used to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally hindered by the factual errors mentioned previously. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved to ensure a smoother transition between the data points. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the overview from the detailed analysis.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with attempts to use terms like 'generated', 'subsequent', 'downfall', and 'drastic incline'. However, there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'table chart' (which is redundant) and 'by 40 billion dollars' (when describing a static value). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Spelling is generally accurate, but the misuse of dates suggests a lack of attention to detail in the source material.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'revenue made from the exports of agriculture and textiles was same' (missing article) and 'income of agricultural' (incorrect word form). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but there are instances where sentence structure is slightly clunky. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Greater attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage would improve the overall quality.
