Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The student attempts to address the prompt by describing the given data categories, mentioning petroleum products, engineered goods, gems and jewellery, agricultural products, and textiles. However, the response suffers from significant inaccuracies regarding the actual data reported. For example, the student states that petroleum products accounted for 'almost 60 billions' in 2015 and 'marginaly incresed' in 2016, and describes textiles as having a declining trend 'every year' despite data for only two years being present. Furthermore, some comparisons lack clarity and precision, such as the statement about engineered goods. Overall, the task is only partially addressed due to data misinterpretation and underdeveloped supporting details, corresponding to a Band 5.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is divided into logical paragraphs with a basic introduction, body paragraphs addressing categories, and a concluding summary. However, the progression of ideas is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and confusing sentence construction, such as 'so that this trend was declining every year' and 'finally, end of the in textile'. Cohesive devices are attempted, but referencing and linking are often mechanical or inaccurate, as seen with repeated connectors like 'Secondly' and 'Moreover' used alongside muddled phrasing. Paragraphing is present, but overall the logical flow is impeded by poor structural control, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptor.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that detract from the writing. Examples of lexical errors include 'percenstage' instead of percentage, 'marginaly' instead of marginally, 'incresed' instead of increased, and 'decresed' instead of decreased. The student attempts some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'exports', 'categories', 'proportion', and 'trend', but the limited range and frequent spelling slips cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher band, aligning well with a Band 5.0 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic subject-verb-object patterns. Attempts at more complex sentences are frequently faulty, leading to ungrammatical constructions such as 'the highest billions in 2016 and in 2015, slightly decresed' and 'end of the in textile, accounted for $35'. Frequent errors in punctuation, missing prepositions, and incorrect verb forms are evident throughout the text. These persistent grammatical inaccuracies cause noticeable difficulty for the reader, matching the criteria for a Band 5.0.
