Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is severely under-length, containing only 88 words compared to the required minimum of 150 words. Because of this, it is incomplete and breaks off mid-sentence ("compared with Engineer goods and Gems and jewellery at around"). Although the student attempts an introduction and an overview mentioning Petroleum products and Engineered goods, key data points and the table percentages are omitted due to the premature ending. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, which severely caps the score for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text begins with standard introductory and overview paragraphs, demonstrating an awareness of how to structure an Academic Task 1 response ("Overall, Petroleum products and Engineered goods was recorded..."). However, because the text cuts off abruptly in the third paragraph, overall progression is not fully established. Cohesive devices like "while" and "Looking first to" are used, but referencing is occasionally faulty, and the lack of a complete response prevents higher-level organization.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and contains several spelling errors, such as "illustrats", "diferent", "parcentage", "occur", "highst", and "erning". There are attempts at topic-specific vocabulary («export values», «export earning»), but the lexical range remains limited and repetitive. Furthermore, spelling mistakes and awkward phrasing ("least erning comes from Textiles") detract from the overall quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The student attempts some complex structures, such as introductory subordinate clauses ("while, the table give details..."), but these contain grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ("Petroleum products and Engineered goods was recorded", "the table give"). Punctuation is also problematic, with unnecessary commas separating subjects and verbs. Because the response is incomplete, the range of grammatical structures is very limited.
