IELTS Writing Task 1 question
below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The bar chart compares a country's export earnings from five different categories, petroleum products, engineered goods, gems and jewellery, agricultural products and textiles between 2015 and 2016 and also a table that shows the percentage difference in values for the same.
Overall, among the five categories four of them had shown positive impact in the year 2016 except for gems and jewellery there has been a slight decrease in the export value. However, the textiles industry's growth is inexplicable compared to others.
Petroleum and engineered goods are the most valued in both the years and still maintaining the highest with petroleum having 3 percent growth and the latter 8.5 percent.
Furthermore, two of the products which had lesser percentage in exporting showed relatively good numbers with textiles holding a tremendous spike from 2015 to 2016 (15.24%) and the least is agricultural items with 0.81 % increase.
Eventhough gems and jewellery shared a better portion of exports, their performance in 2016 was comparatively low, 5.18 percent less from last year.
