below shows the value of one country’s exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016. The table shows the percentage change in each category of exports in 2016 compared with 2015.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The given bar graph shows the monetary value exports in five different categories in 2015 and 2016 of a particular country. Similarly, the table represents change in exports of each categories in 2016 compared with the year 2015.
Overall, petroleum products generated the highest export earings in both years, while textiles recorded the lowest figures. Most categories experienced a increase in exports except for gems and jewllery.
In 2015, petroleum products earned approximately $72 billion, rising to around $74 billion, increased by 3%. Similarly, exports of engineered goods has soared by 8.5%, rising from $65 billion to $70 billion in the year 2015 and 2016 respectively. Though textile has cotributed the lowest amount in export, it has recorded significant increase by 15.24%, from roughly $35 billion to $42 billion.By contrast, only gems and jwellery has experienced a downfall, decling slightly from $52 billion to $50 billion, by 5.18%.
Overall, the chart indicates a general upward trend in the country's export earnings between 2015 and 2016.
