Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The student attempts to address the task by summarizing the provided chart data concerning export earnings and percentage changes across five categories. Major features are touched upon, such as identifying textiles as having the highest growth at 15.24% and noting the decline in gems and jewelry. However, the response lacks a clear, consolidated overview of the data as a whole, and some key data points (such as the actual export values in billions for 2015 and 2016) are largely omitted in favor of focusing solely on the percentage changes. Additionally, the final sentences slip into personal opinion and general economic commentary rather than strictly reporting and comparing the visual data. These limitations place the performance at band 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response features basic logical organization, moving from an introductory statement through individual category details to a concluding summary. However, paragraphing is not utilized effectively; the entire text is lumped into a single block of text rather than being divided into an introduction, body paragraphs, and a clear overview. Cohesive devices are basic and repetitive (e.g., 'It is shown that', 'The engineering good showed', 'Agricultural products showed'), and referencing is occasionally mechanical. Progression is somewhat hampered by the lack of clear paragraph structure and distinct transitions between data points, resulting in a band 5.5 score.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating the basic information, featuring relevant topic-specific terms like 'export', 'petroleum products', 'agricultural products', and 'percentage'. There are several spelling and word-choice errors, however, such as 'perleum' instead of 'petroleum', 'jevellery' instead of 'jewellery', and 'week' instead of 'weak'. The student attempts some less common phrasing like 'minimal growth' and 'highest among all', but overall lexical control is limited by these frequent mechanical errors and spelling inaccuracies, pointing to a band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'It is shown that there is 3% increase...' and 'A huge growth has been shown in Textiles with the numbers of 15.24% which is highest among all.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles (e.g., 'export of a country', 'in positive direction'), incorrect prepositions, and awkward phrasing ('gems and jewelry were on 5.18% decline'). Punctuation is also slightly flawed in places. While communication is not severely impeded, the density of grammatical slips keeps the performance at a band 5.0.
