The graph represents the value of one country's exports in various categories during 2015 and 2016 and the table illustrates the percentage change in each category in 2016 compared with 2015.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by reporting the main features of both the bar chart and the table, covering categories such as petroleum products and textiles. However, some ideas are under-developed or less fully covered, as the candidate presents a somewhat mechanical run-through of the data points without fully synthesizing the broader trends across both years. While key features like the highest and lowest values are mentioned, the overall summary captures only basic elements rather than extending the comparisons. To reach a higher level, the response should provide a more fully developed overview that integrates the data from the graph and table more cohesively, avoiding a simple listing of individual categories.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs addressing the graph and table separately, and a concluding overview. Information and ideas are generally organized in a logical sequence, moving from individual product categories to percentage changes. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or faulty, relying heavily on transitional phrases like "First and foremost," "Furthermore," "Moreover," and "To add more," which can feel repetitive and slightly clumsy. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the graph details from the table details, showing good control of structure, but referencing and logical flow between sentences need to be smoother to achieve a higher standard.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying basic comparative concepts such as "increased," "higher," and "went up." The candidate attempts some less common vocabulary and lexical items, such as "significantly higher" and "percentage change," though there are noticeable word-choice and spelling errors that reflect a limited range, including "texitlies" instead of textiles, "signicantly," and awkward phrasing like "by less magrin." These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they highlight the need for greater precision in spelling and collocations. To improve further, the writer should incorporate a wider variety of precise reporting verbs and nouns to describe statistical changes naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The essay employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating basic control over sentence structure with constructions like "The graph represents the value... and the table illustrates..." There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing or incorrect articles ("in the texitlies export" and "value of the petroleum"), awkward prepositions ("in 2016 with compare to 2015"), and tense inconsistencies. Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear throughout. To move up to the next band, the writer must produce a higher proportion of error-free sentences and demonstrate more consistent control over articles, prepositions, and complex grammatical structures.
