Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response responds to the task only minimally and fails to accurately report the main features or figures from the chart and table. The data cited throughout the text is largely incorrect or confused, such as stating that petroleum had '6.5 percent' in 2015 when the figure was actually 61 billion dollars, or confusing billions with percentages. While the student attempts an overview and mentions some categories like engineered goods and textiles, the misunderstanding of the visual data leads to an under-developed and inaccurate summary of the export earnings.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
Information and ideas are not arranged in a fully coherent manner. Although the student uses basic paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, overview, and body details, the progression within and between sentences is difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are minimal and mechanical, relying heavily on basic time markers like 'In 2015' and 'In 2016' without establishing clear logical relationships between the export categories and their respective percentage changes.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Vocabulary use is basic and repetitive, with numerous spelling errors and word choice inaccuracies that strain the reader's comprehension. Words like 'catogary', 'ammount', 'highr', 'jewlers', 'agricultureal', 'persent', 'anaysis', 'petrolem', 'whcih', 'engineerd', and 'jewlwry' are misspelled throughout the response. The student attempts to discuss percentages and export categories, but the limited range and frequent lexical errors impede clear communication of the data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, consisting mostly of simple or faultily linked clauses. Grammatical errors are frequent, including missing articles, incorrect verb forms ('the gems and jewlers ... have 50 ,40 and 35 persent', 'the agricultural products doesnot show any increase'), and severe run-on sentences lacking proper punctuation. Punctuation and capitalization are largely neglected, with sentences beginning without capital letters and lacking terminal full stops, which causes frequent difficulty for the reader.
