Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response attempts to address the task by mentioning various categories such as petroleum products and textiles, but it does so only minimally. The overview is extremely limited, stating simply that petroleum products have the highest earnings and textiles the lowest, without capturing the broader trends or making meaningful comparisons. Furthermore, the data reported throughout the body is largely inaccurate and confused (for instance, claiming engineered goods reached 65 billion dollars in 2016 or misreading the chart values significantly). Key features are poorly selected, and the overall treatment of the visual data is fragmented and inadequate, placing the response at this level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The information and ideas are not arranged coherently. The response lacks a clear logical progression, jumping abruptly between disjointed statements about different categories without effective transitions. Paragraphing is rudimentary and chaotic, with sentences grouped arbitrarily rather than following a structured overview-and-detail format. There is a heavy reliance on repetitive sentence openings and basic referencing ('the other one', 'last one'), which fails to create a smooth flow and makes the overall progression difficult for the reader to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
Vocabulary use is basic, repetitive, and strained. The student repeatedly relies on simple words like 'earn', 'good', and 'products' throughout the text. There are frequent word choice and collocation issues, such as writing 'earnining' or confusing earnings figures with the physical process of work ('its also work two year'). While the student attempts to name categories from the chart, inaccuracies in spelling and expression (such as 'Engineerd goods' and 'priviues') are noticeable and occasionally cause strain for the reader, limiting the range to a basic level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The grammatical range is very limited, consisting predominantly of simple, fragmented, or poorly constructed clause structures. Attempts at complex sentences are faulty and lead to frequent errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and missing prepositions or articles (for example, 'Its was started in 2015,2016 to earned money sixty billions doller above'). Punctuation is frequently misused or omitted, and errors are dense throughout the text, often distorting meaning and making it difficult for the reader to decipher the intended message.
