Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the task partially by attempting to summarise the export earnings and percentage changes. However, key data points and comparisons are underdeveloped or imprecise. For instance, the writer states that export earnings in 2015 were 'less in almost all category expect only gems and jewellery', which misinterprets the chart since several categories had higher values in 2015 compared to others. While an overview is attempted at the beginning, it contains inaccuracies, such as stating 'there is total 6 type of export category'. To move to a higher band, the response needs to select and report the main features more accurately without misinterpreting the graphical data, providing a clearer and more comprehensive summary of both the 2015 figures and the 2016 percentage changes.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text shows some organisation with basic grouping of ideas into paragraphs, but there is no clear overall progression. The relationship between sentences is sometimes disjointed, and cohesive devices are inadequate or clumsy, as seen in phrases like 'As we seen in the chart' and repetitive transitional structures. Paragraphing is attempted, but the division of ideas lacks logical flow, separating related points about specific categories awkwardly across different sections. To achieve a higher band, the writer must ensure a more logical sequencing of information, employ a wider range of cohesive devices more accurately, and use paragraphing to structure distinct comparisons clearly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common terms and figures, such as 'petroleum products' and 'engineered goods', but makes noticeable errors in word choice, form, and spelling, such as 'campared', 'sightly', 'grow', 'agricultral', and 'enlarge'. These lexical slips and awkward collocations cause some difficulty for the reader. To improve in this area, the writer needs to expand their range of vocabulary for describing data trends and ensure correct word forms and spellings are used consistently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors involving subject-verb agreement, articles, and prepositions, such as 'The Chart illustrate', 'there is total 6 type', 'is one the products ,who is decreased', and 'in the 2016'. These persistent errors can cause difficulty and strain for the reader. To reach a higher band, the writer must incorporate a wider variety of grammatical structures with greater accuracy, ensuring that basic sentence mechanics and tense consistency are maintained throughout the response.
