Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially. While you attempt to provide an overview and report some main features from the bar chart, your summary contains several inaccurate figures and misreadings of the data. For instance, you state that petroleum and engineered goods reached up to $65 billion, and that agricultural products were at $40 billion, which do not accurately reflect the visual data. Furthermore, the response is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence at the end. To achieve a higher level, you must ensure that all reported data points are accurate and grounded in the source material, and that the summary is fully completed without abrupt endings.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some organisation with basic paragraphing and rudimentary cohesive devices such as 'Overall' and 'In contrast', but the progression of ideas is hindered by inaccurate data reporting and abrupt shifts between sentences. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical use of transition words does not compensate for the lack of clear logical flow. To improve, you should group related information more logically and ensure that your cohesive devices accurately reflect the relationships between different categories in the chart.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, with noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. You successfully use basic terms related to the chart, such as 'export earnings', 'categories', and 'products', but attempts at less common vocabulary or precise descriptions are marred by spelling mistakes like 'argicultural' and unnatural phrasing such as 'lit bit low as compare to'. To elevate your lexical score, you need to expand your range of vocabulary to describe trends and proportions more precisely, while eliminating basic spelling and word-choice errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying mostly on simple or faulty complex sentences. There are frequent errors in grammar, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'income from gems and jewellery products are lit bit low', 'was the major source of income at $63 billion to at $65 billion', and 'the income from export of gems and jewellery was decline'. These frequent errors cause strain and difficulty for the reader. To improve, you must work on basic grammatical accuracy, verb forms, and tense consistency when describing past data.
