Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially. While the student attempts to summarise the main features of the visual data, there are several misinterpretations and inaccurate data points reported, such as stating that 'textile also grew upto 20 billion by 2016' when the chart shows it reached 31 billion, and confusing categories like calling the export categories 'categories of sport'. The overview is somewhat basic, noting that petroleum products had the highest earnings and engineered goods the greatest increase, but overall, the information is limited and under-developed, preventing the response from achieving a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation evident with the use of introductory and body paragraphs, but the overall progression of ideas is lacking. Cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate, inaccurate, or repetitive, such as the mechanical transitions used between sentences like 'Additionally the table explains...' and 'As illustrated by bar chart...'. Paragraphing is attempted, but referencing between sentences is not always clear, making the logical flow disjointed at times.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited but minimally adequate to convey a basic outline of the chart. There are noticeable lexical errors and inappropriate word choices, such as referring to economic export categories as 'categories of sport', misspelling 'daced' for faced, 'jewlery' for jewellery, and awkward phrasing like 'trade money'. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a restricted control of word choice, collocation, and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer uses a limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors, including missing articles ('the table chart compare', 'by bar chart'), incorrect prepositions, and punctuation errors such as spacing issues around currency symbols like '60$ billion'. These frequent errors can cause occasional difficulty for the reader, fitting the description of grammatical control at this level.
