Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the chart’s subject and mention several relevant categories, including petroleum, textiles, agriculture, and gems and jewellery. However, key figures and comparisons are misreported: textiles had the largest percentage increase, at 15.24%, not 8.5%; 8.5% belongs to engineered goods. Petroleum rose by 3%, but it was not the highest percentage change. The response also lacks a clear overview of the main pattern, such as the generally higher export values in 2016 and the decline in gems and jewellery. The length requirement is not met: the response is 90 words, 60 short of the 150-word minimum. To improve, report the main trends accurately and support them with selected figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5

The response follows a broadly relevant sequence, moving from the chart’s subject to individual categories, and words such as “Among” and “Only” attempt to connect ideas. However, it is presented as one paragraph with no clear overview followed by supporting details, so the reader cannot easily distinguish the main features from examples. Some links are also unclear: “Textiles significantly made the highest change … upto 8.5%” does not connect the category to the correct figure, while “By 2015” makes the comparison difficult to follow. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph of key comparisons, using clear references to the years and categories.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “exports,” “categories,” “percentage,” “demand,” and “marginal change,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing a table and bar chart. For example, “made the highest change in their price” is not a precise way to describe export values, and “in high demand” introduces a demand claim that the chart does not show. Spelling errors such as “loest,” “higest,” “peroleum,” and “comapired” also reduce accuracy. Build a more precise set of chart-description phrases, such as “export earnings rose,” “recorded the largest increase,” and “fell slightly.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt several sentence forms, including a comparison beginning “Among all the products” and a sentence using “Only,” but the range remains limited and errors recur. In “The bar graph illustrate,” the singular subject requires “illustrates”; “Petroleum product is in high demand by 2015” has an unsuitable tense construction; and “their value” does not agree clearly with the singular category. The phrase “where high in demand” also needs the past-tense verb “were.” These errors sometimes make relationships between categories, years, and figures difficult to understand. Practise accurate simple past forms for 2015–2016 comparisons, subject–verb agreement, and sentence patterns such as “Textile earnings increased by…”
