Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the broad pattern that most categories rose while gems and jewellery fell, and you note that petroleum was the leading export. However, several figures and comparisons are substantially inaccurate: for example, petroleum is about $61 billion in 2015 and $63 billion in 2016, not $60 billion and $65 billion; textiles rise from about $26 billion to $31 billion, not $40 billion; and agriculture remains around $31 billion, not $40 billion. Gems and jewellery also falls from about $43 billion to $41 billion, rather than $50 billion to $48 billion. The overview is incomplete because it does not identify textiles as the fastest-growing category. More accurate reporting of the main values and a clearer summary of the key contrasts are needed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the figures. This helps the reader follow the broad division between increases and decreases. However, progression within the detail paragraphs is not always clear, and some linking is mechanical or confusing. For instance, “after that it start to make upward trend” does not clearly connect the two engineering figures, while “Therefore” is not an appropriate link between the agriculture statement and its unchanged value. The final paragraph groups gems and agriculture together without a clear contrast. Organise the categories in a consistent order and use precise comparisons to make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “exports,” “categories,” “downward trend,” and “significant increase,” so the subject is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several choices are unnatural or imprecise for describing a chart. “The worth of one country's exports” is less suitable than a direct reference to export values, and “popular” does not describe the value of agricultural exports. Phrases such as “starts to fall down” and “make upward trend” are also awkward. There are spelling errors, including “postive” and “rersults,” and repeated use of “increasing” and “billion” limits variety. Aim for accurate chart language such as “rose to,” “remained stable,” and “recorded the highest value.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the response is usually understandable, but errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “petroleum products was” and “Textiles is,” while verb forms are faulty in “is being increasing” and “it start to make.” Articles and number forms also need attention, as in “in the both year” and “the year 2015 and 2016.” Some sentence boundaries and punctuation are awkward, particularly in “Gems and jewellery was 50 billion it presents the downward trend.” Practise forming accurate past-tense comparisons, for example, “Textile exports rose from about $26 billion to $31 billion.”
