Student answer (Band 5.0)

The given image illustrates the bar graph of "export earnings from year 2016 compare with 2015 with the percentage change from the numerous types of categories.

In contrast agricultural products raised by only 0.81 percentage points moreover the textiles depict a major increment with 15.24 percentage points.

To conclude, the pertoleum products and the engineering goods holded higher percentage since the beginning but on the other hand agricultural products and textiles remined at their fall with less catch.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the main categories and correctly note that petroleum products earned the most in both years, while textiles were lowest in 2015. You also report several percentage changes accurately, including 8.5% for engineered goods and 15.24% for textiles. However, the response only partly summarises the visual: it gives almost no actual export values or clear comparison between the two years, and the overview is weakened by inaccurate claims. Textiles rose from about $26 billion to $31 billion, so they were not the lowest in 2016; engineered goods, not petroleum, had the highest percentage increase. The final claim that agriculture and textiles “remained at their fall” is also unclear and conflicts with their upward changes. Select the key rises, fall and overall ranking, then support them with figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to category details and a concluding statement. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In contrast” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, progression is not consistently clear: the overview is placed after a paragraph listing categories, and the conclusion repeats or contradicts earlier points rather than synthesising them. Some links are inaccurate or awkward, particularly “moreover” joining the agricultural and textile changes, and “on the other hand” introducing a comparison that is not clearly expressed. Group the main increases together, contrast them with the decline in gems and jewellery, and use linking words only where the relationship between ideas is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “export earnings,” “percentage,” “categories,” “fall” and “increment,” and the category names are generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “inclined” does not mean increased in this context, “percentage points” is not the right way to describe these percentage changes, and “holded higher percentage” and “less catch” are unclear. There are also noticeable spelling errors, such as “pertoleum,” “comaring” and “remined.” Use precise reporting language such as “rose by,” “declined by” and “accounted for,” and check spelling of key labels before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas hard to understand. Examples include “The earnings are the highest figure,” where the subject and complement do not agree, and “the petroleum products has lnclined,” where the verb form does not match the plural subject. The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure, while “the textiles depict a major increment with 15.24 percentage points” combines an awkward clause with an unsuitable construction. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable, especially in the long sentences joined by “whereas” and “moreover.” Practise accurate past-tense comparisons, subject–verb agreement and shorter sentences before adding complex clauses.
