Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the two visuals and include a broad overview, noting that most categories rose while gems and jewellery fell. However, several key details are inaccurate or unclear. The graph shows petroleum products rising from about $61 billion to $63 billion, engineered goods from $57 billion to $62 billion, and textiles from $26 billion to $31 billion; the claim that all three grew by 5% is incorrect. You also mix up the table figures: petroleum rose by 3%, agricultural products by 0.81%, and engineered goods by 8.5%. Agricultural exports were essentially stable at about $31 billion, rather than showing a meaningful fluctuation. The response covers the task but reports the data only partially accurately; use the overview to highlight the largest increase and the one decline, then check each figure against its category.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a recognisable four-paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details, and connectors such as “Overall” and “On the other hand” help signal relationships. However, progression is limited because the same broad trends are repeated in the overview and body without a clear, systematic comparison. For example, the increase in textiles is mentioned more than once, while the bar-chart values are not organised into a clear account of the categories. Some linking is also confusing: “The plan summarises” does not clearly refer to the table, and the final paragraph’s sequence of figures assigns percentages to the wrong categories. Group the main increases together, then describe the decline and near-stable category, using accurate references such as “the table” and “the bar chart”.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “percentage change,” “increased,” “decreased,” and “export material,” so the topic is generally identifiable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, sometimes making the meaning harder to follow. Examples include “export earning,” “fraction grown up,” “grown down,” and “the increased in the rates.” There are also spelling errors such as “vlaue,” “engins,” and “respectivily.” Avoid forcing informal expressions such as “grown up” into a data report; use precise verbs like “rose,” “fell,” or “remained stable.” Check spelling and use the exact category names consistently, especially “engineered goods” and “agricultural products”.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, including comparisons with “as compared to” and a contrast introduced by “On the other hand.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and tense recur. For example, “The table illustrates the increased in the rates” uses an incorrect noun form, while “agricultural products shows small fluctuation” has agreement and article problems. The opening phrase “during the time period of a year 2016” is also awkwardly constructed, and punctuation spacing is inconsistent. These errors do not make the whole response impossible to understand, but they sometimes obscure the intended comparison. Practise accurate patterns such as “Textile exports increased by…” and “Agricultural exports remained stable,” then proofread each sentence for subject–verb agreement and complete grammatical phrasing.
