Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main categories and provide an overview that petroleum products were the leading export, while textiles were among the lowest. You also note that textile earnings rose and gems and jewellery declined. However, several key figures and comparisons are inaccurate: textiles were about $26 billion in 2015, not $35 billion; gems were about $43 billion, not above $50 billion; and agricultural exports were about $31 billion in both years, not $40 billion. The percentage changes are also misassigned: 8.5% belongs to engineered goods, while petroleum rose by 3%; gems fell by 5.18%, rather than jumping. These errors and the limited explanation of the overall pattern leave parts of the task only partially addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and separate paragraphs for 2015 and 2016. This gives the reader a basic route through the information, and linking expressions such as “Moreover” and “Furthermore” help connect details. However, progression is weakened by unclear or contradictory comparisons. For example, the overview says agricultural products and textiles were both lowest in 2016, although textiles rose to about $31 billion and agricultural exports remained around that level. The final paragraph also mixes percentage changes with earnings and uses “two category” references whose meaning is difficult to follow. Use clearer grouping—such as highest, lowest, increases, and decreases—and ensure each comparison follows logically from the data.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt task-related vocabulary, including “earning,” “percentage,” “growth,” and “category,” and use some relevant terms such as “highest” and “significant.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the report difficult to interpret. “Importance of one nations export” does not accurately describe export values, while “percentage fluctuation” and “jump” are imprecise for reporting the table. There are also frequent spelling errors, including “petrolium,” “flactuation,” “catogery,” and “tromendus,” which reduce clarity. Aim for precise, repeated chart language rather than awkward alternatives: for example, “export earnings,” “increased by,” “remained stable,” and “recorded the lowest value.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the response is divided into paragraphs, but grammatical control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms and agreement appear in phrases such as “The bar graph illustrate,” “engineering goods were take second position,” and “agricultural product was one of the category.” Articles, plurals, and sentence construction are also problematic, as in “in a several type of categories” and “petrolium and engineering goods have equal earning was around 60 billion.” These patterns sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. Practise building accurate comparison sentences, for example: “Petroleum earnings rose from about $61 billion to $63 billion, while textile earnings increased from $26 billion to $31 billion.” Check subject–verb agreement and use one clear main clause per sentence.
