Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response identifies the two leading export categories and notes the largest percentage increase for textiles, so it does select some relevant features. However, several central figures and trends are misreported: petroleum products rose from about $61 billion to $63 billion, not from $20 billion to $65 billion; agricultural exports were about $31 billion, not $40 billion; and gems and jewellery fell from about $43 billion to $41 billion. The overview also incorrectly says textiles and agricultural products declined, when both increased or remained broadly stable. The percentage changes are confused too: the 3% and 8.5% figures are not both attributed accurately. A more accurate overview and carefully checked comparisons are needed for the task to be adequately addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic paragraph structure: an introduction and overview are followed by details about the chart and then percentage changes. This gives the reader some sense of how the response is organised. However, progression is weakened by unclear or contradictory statements, such as saying agricultural products remained the same and later describing them as having made a percentage increase, and by placing the textile percentage in both the overview and final paragraph without clarifying its meaning. Linking words such as “However,” “while,” and “moreover” are attempted, but some are used awkwardly or join ideas that do not contrast. Separate the overview from the detailed comparisons, group related categories, and use connectors only where the relationship is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “exports,” “percentage,” “reduced,” and “reached,” and it attempts to describe changes across two years. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the data difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “the ratio of single country exports in different proportion” and “made 15.24% exports” are not natural ways to describe export values or percentage changes. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “billioins,” “stoped,” “remaind,” and “Petrooleum.” Use precise chart language such as “export earnings,” “stood at,” “rose to,” and “increased by,” and distinguish clearly between a value in billions and a percentage change.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a few longer sentences using contrast and time references, for example, “in 2015 it stoped at 60 billions however, in 2016 it reached at 65 billions.” However, sentence structures are often faulty, and errors in agreement, tense, articles, and punctuation occur throughout. Examples include “products … was recorded,” “textiles and agricultural products was declined,” and “it stoped,” where the verb forms do not fit the subjects or intended meaning. Several sentences also run together without appropriate punctuation, as in “The ratio change in each type of exports from 2016 to 2015.Overall”. Build clearer sentences with consistent past-tense reporting, correct subject–verb agreement, and full stops between separate ideas.
