Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the chart and table and include several relevant comparisons, such as petroleum products being the largest category and textiles showing the strongest percentage growth. However, the overview contains major inaccuracies: earnings did not decrease overall, and the percentage changes did not all increase except for engineered goods; engineered goods rose, while gems and jewellery fell. The response also gives incorrect or unsupported figures, including gems falling to 38 billion and a 5.81% decline rather than about 41 billion and 5.18%. Several key comparisons are omitted, particularly the 2016 values for petroleum and engineered goods. These inaccuracies and limited coverage leave the task only partially addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to selected details, so the reader can recognise the intended stages of the report. However, progression is uneven: the overview makes claims that are not then supported, and the detail paragraphs do not systematically compare both years across the categories. Some links are awkward or unclear, as in “this number decreased and reached at 38 billions,” while “furthermore” does not clearly connect the final comparison. Missing spaces after full stops and inconsistent punctuation also interrupt the flow. Group the main trends in the overview, then organise the figures into clear comparisons, using linking words only where they express the relationship accurately.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “exports,” “categories,” “percentage increased,” and “decreased,” and the meaning is generally recoverable. There is some variation in how you describe values, such as “at” and “nearly.” However, several word choices and collocations are imprecise or repetitive: “proportion change” is less suitable than “percentage change,” and “export earning” should be expressed as “export earnings.” “Major percentage increased” and “made up for” do not convey the intended trends naturally. There are also spelling errors, including “adn,” and inconsistent forms such as “Agricultural product.” Use standard chart-reporting phrases and check spelling and word forms to make comparisons more precise.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and more developed comparisons, including “as compared to” and “this number decreased and reached at 38 billions.” However, grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “The bar chart illustrate” and “The table depict,” missing articles in “Petroleum products was the highest,” and faulty sentence construction in “Gems and jewellery the export was higher.” Tense and number control are also inconsistent, as in “Textiles shows” and “30 billions.” Punctuation is often missing or misplaced, particularly around sentence boundaries. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, complete sentence patterns, articles, and plural forms before adding more complex comparisons.
