Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response identifies several relevant categories and includes some figures, such as petroleum products rising by 3% and gems and jewellery falling by 5.18%. However, the overview is inaccurate: textiles did not decline, but rose from about $26 billion to $31 billion, and petroleum, engineered goods and textiles all increased. The claim that engineered goods rose by 3% also conflicts with the table’s 8.5%. Important comparisons are missing, including engineered goods’ increase and the fact that agricultural exports were almost unchanged. The final comments about global demand and widespread use are not supported by the visual. To improve, give a concise, accurate overview of the main trends, then report the key values and comparisons without adding explanations the chart cannot establish.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic attempt to organise the response with an opening, an overview beginning “Overall,” and a concluding statement. Some linking phrases, including “At the same time” and “In conclusion,” also show awareness of how to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several categories and figures are combined in long, loosely connected sentences, and the conclusion repeats unsupported claims rather than summarising the data. References such as “the changes” and “among the all products” are unclear. Grouping the information into a clear overview followed by comparisons of rising and falling or stable categories would make the organisation more coherent. Use linking devices to show precise relationships, not simply to mark a new sentence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “export earnings,” “increased in value,” “percentage,” and “highest,” so the reader can recognise the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “outside the export earnings,” “the expenditure in textiles,” and “the value of assest.” Spelling errors—including “petrolum,” “jewellary,” “globaly,” and “highets”—also make the writing less clear and less precise. Some terms, such as “demands” and “consumption,” introduce ideas not shown in the chart. Build a more accurate set of vocabulary for describing export values and trends, and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences, for example, “The petroleum products increased in value overall 3 percent while the changes in textiles increases 15.24.” However, control is inconsistent: tense and verb forms shift (“increases” after “2015 and 2016”), and agreement is faulty in “the value … have recored.” Articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “among the all products,” while the opening phrase “between the 2015 and 2016” uses an incorrect grammatical pattern. These errors sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to understand. Practise forming accurate past-tense comparisons and checking subject–verb agreement, articles and prepositions. Shorter, complete sentences would help you communicate the data more reliably while you develop more varied structures.
