Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

The response identifies the chart’s subject and names the export categories, but it does not accurately report the main data. The overview says exports generally increased and that petroleum and engineering were higher, yet it also claims there was no clear change; this misses the key contrast that textiles rose most, while gems and jewellery fell. Several figures are misread: 8.5% and 3% are percentage changes, not the 2015 export values, and the stated 66% for petroleum in 2016 is not supported by the chart. The claim that agriculture and textiles had the lowest rates is also misleading. To improve, give an accurate overview of the main rises and fall, then compare the approximate dollar values across both years.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organisation: the response begins with an introduction, then attempts an overview and separates discussion of 2015 and 2016. This gives the reader a rough sense of the intended structure. However, progression is difficult to follow because the overview is unclear and later statements contradict it, such as saying exports increased overall but concluding that there was no clear change. Linking words including “conversely,” “while,” and “summarisingly” are used, but they do not consistently show the relationship between the data, and one comparison is left unfinished. Organise the response around the overall trends, followed by clear comparisons of the largest categories and the notable changes, using links only where they clarify those relationships.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “exports,” “categories,” “percentage,” and “improvement,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate or misspelled choices make the meaning harder to understand: “export ratio” is not a suitable way to describe dollar earnings, while “took a pace” and “recorded the lowest rates” are awkward in this context. Spelling errors such as “ilustrates,” “jewelley,” and “adricltural” are noticeable. Use precise chart language such as “export earnings,” “rose by,” “fell by,” and “remained stable,” and check spelling and collocations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts a few longer structures, for example “however, petroleum and engineering goods exported in higher percentage” and “While other categories also remained on the lowest rates.” However, sentence structures are often incomplete or inaccurately formed, and errors frequently make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “the value of one country exports of one country,” the fragment “The major exports items listing,” and “petroleum and engineering goods did not witnessed.” There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, including inconsistent spacing around commas and full stops. Practise building complete subject–verb sentences and checking verb forms after auxiliaries: for example, “did not witness,” rather than “did not witnessed.”
