Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response identifies one relevant feature: petroleum products had the highest export value in both years, which is supported by the chart. However, it gives no figures, does not describe the other four categories, and does not report the percentage changes or the overall pattern. The opening also says the graph shows “change in percentage,” although the bars compare export earnings and the table gives percentage changes. As a result, the task is addressed only minimally and the main features are not summarised. The response is also far below the required 150 words, leaving too little information to fulfil the task. To improve, include a clear overview and compare the categories using key values and trends from both the chart and table.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an introductory sentence followed by a separate observation, and the second sentence is relevant to the chart. However, the response stops after this single comparison, so there is no progression through the data and no developed overview or supporting details. The two paragraphs are not connected by a clear sequence of ideas, and there are no linking expressions to guide the reader between categories or years. Build a short introduction, an overview of the main trends, and one or two detail paragraphs grouped by increases, decreases, or export value. Use simple links such as “while,” “by contrast,” and “in comparison” to make those relationships clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “bar graph,” “petroleum products,” “exports,” and “percentage,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, several word choices and forms are inaccurate or awkward: “the earning” is not a natural way to describe the figures, and “five different exports production” does not clearly identify the five product categories. “Showed highest” is also an incomplete collocation for describing a value. Spelling errors such as “diiferent” and “yer” further reduce accuracy. Use precise chart language, for example “export earnings,” “product categories,” and “recorded the highest value,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts two simple sentence structures, and the main point about petroleum products can still be understood. However, grammatical control is uneven. In “the given bar graph illustrates change in the earning,” the noun phrase needs clearer article and number choices; “showing change in percentage during 2015 and 2016” is also an awkwardly attached clause. The second sentence, “the petroleum products showed highest among all five products by yer 2015 and 2016,” lacks a clear object after “showed” and uses an unclear time expression. Capitalisation and spacing around punctuation are inconsistent. Practise complete comparison sentences, such as “Petroleum products had the highest export earnings in both years,” and vary them with accurate clauses using “while” or “whereas.”
