Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

You identify the subject and attempt an overview by noting that petroleum products and engineered goods earned more than the other categories. However, the response only partially reports the data and includes major inaccuracies: petroleum earnings did not decrease, but rose from about $61 billion to $63 billion, while engineered goods also increased. The claim that textiles and agricultural products earned the least is not accurate across both years, and the description of a sudden change is unsupported. The response ends mid-sentence, leaving several categories and the table’s percentage changes unreported. It also falls 52 words short of the 150-word minimum; 10 words copied from the task prompt were excluded from the count. Include a complete overview and accurate comparisons of the main rises and fall.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response, with an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph beginning “Firstly.” This gives the reader some sense of the intended structure. However, progression is limited: the final paragraph moves between petroleum, engineered goods, gems, and agricultural products without completing the comparisons, and the response stops mid-sentence. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “Firstly,” and “In the same way” are used, but the latter does not clearly express the relationship between the categories that follow it. To improve, group the figures into clear comparisons—for example, categories that rose versus the one that fell—and use linking expressions that accurately show those relationships. Complete each paragraph and ensure the report has a clear ending.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “exports,” “category,” “earned,” “compared,” and “downfall,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or unclear, such as “table chart,” “change in proportion,” “earned most in the mid of 2015,” and “decreased suddenly.” These expressions make it difficult to understand the intended trends and do not describe the visual precisely. Spelling errors, including “caterogeries,” “engineerd,” “whille,” and “compard,” are also noticeable. Build a more precise set of terms for describing values and trends, such as “export earnings,” “increased slightly,” and “declined,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple and more extended sentence forms, including a contrast introduced by “but” and a time comparison in the opening. However, control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “a country exports” lacks the possessive form, while “petroleum items in 2015 earned most in the mid of 2015” has an unclear sentence structure and awkward time reference. The sentence beginning “In the same way” becomes incomplete and ends with “agricultural and,” so the final idea is not grammatically finished. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check that each comparison is expressed in a finished clause.
