Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You identify two relevant features: textiles showed the largest increase, while agricultural exports changed very little. However, the response gives no figures, comparisons across the other categories, or developed overview of the chart and table. It also describes the agricultural change as minor, although the table reports a small increase rather than no change. The task requires a summary of the main information, and this response addresses it only minimally. It is also 109 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to report the key trends and support them with data. To improve, include an overview and compare the values and percentage changes for several categories, using accurate figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the chart, then mentions the largest and smallest changes. This gives the reader a simple line of development, but the ideas are not organised into a complete report, and the very short response does not group or compare the information in a clear way. The sentence beginning “And the minor variation” is an awkward continuation rather than a well-connected comparison. Develop a clear overview followed by a paragraph comparing the main categories, and use linking expressions such as “by contrast” or “while” to show relationships between trends. This would make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some relevant vocabulary, including “exports,” “increased,” “significant rate,” and “minor variation,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is narrow and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural for describing data. “The comparison of exports” does not clearly convey that the chart shows export values, while “textile industry” shifts attention from export earnings to the industry itself. “Agriculture industries” is also an awkward category label. Use precise terms such as “export earnings,” “textile exports,” and “agricultural products,” and include vocabulary for comparing values, such as “rose from,” “remained stable,” and “recorded the largest increase.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response uses mostly simple sentence patterns, and the main message can be understood. However, the range is very limited, with several short statements rather than varied sentences that compare data. The punctuation also creates fragments: “Its exports increased at a significant rate” is separated from the preceding idea by a full stop, and “And the minor variation was recorded in agriculture industries” begins with a conjunction in a way that does not connect the comparison smoothly. There are also spacing errors before full stops. Practise combining related points into accurate complex sentences, for example, “Textile exports rose substantially, whereas agricultural exports changed only slightly.”
