Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0

The response identifies the topic and attempts to report a highest and a lowest category, but it covers very little of the visual and does not provide a clear, accurate overview. Petroleum products were the highest category in both years, but the stated percentage of 8.9% is incorrect; the table gives 3%. Agricultural products were not the lowest export value: textiles were lowest in 2015, while agricultural products and textiles were both about $31 billion in 2016. The reported 0.18% is also inaccurate; the table shows 0.81%. The response is 83 words, below the required 150, and omits most categories and comparisons. To improve, summarise the main trends and support them with accurate figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to introduce the visual and then mention selected findings, so the reader can recognise the intended topic. However, the response is very short and its ideas do not develop into a clear sequence: the opening repeats that the table concerns export values and percentage changes, followed by two incomplete comparisons. The final phrase, “in the year 2015,” leaves the point unfinished. There is no clear overview paragraph or organised comparison of the categories. Use separate paragraphs for an overview and key details, and connect comparisons explicitly—for example, contrast the categories that rose with the one that fell.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses a few relevant terms, including “value,” “categories,” “petroleum products,” and “agricultural products,” which help identify the subject. However, the vocabulary is limited and several spelling errors make the writing less clear, such as “persantage,” “percantage,” and “illustrat.” Some phrases are also imprecise for describing a chart, including “the small value has in the table” and “the year of 2015 to 2016.” Use standard data-reporting language and accurate category names, such as “the lowest figure,” “export earnings,” and “increased by.” Check spelling carefully, especially for repeated key terms, and avoid using “percentage” when you mean the dollar value.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The response attempts simple statements and a comparison, but grammatical control is weak and sentence structures are very limited. Errors include “one country export” instead of a possessive form, “The table show” instead of subject–verb agreement, and “a highest value” instead of the correct superlative construction. The phrase “The illustrat that a highest value…” lacks a correctly formed verb and clause, while “The small value has…” is also structurally unclear. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, with spaces before full stops and a lower-case sentence beginning after a full stop. Practise complete subject–verb sentences, articles, possessives, and past-tense reporting forms before attempting longer comparisons.
