Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the chart’s subject and give a relevant overview: petroleum products earned the most in both years, while textiles were the lowest in 2015, and textiles had the largest percentage change. However, the response reports very little of the data and stops partway through a comparison (“Engineered goods at roughly…”), so the main features are not adequately selected or supported. The overview also says textiles were the least-earning category without limiting this to 2015; in 2016, textiles and agricultural products were both about $31 billion. The required minimum length is not met, which contributes to the task being only partially addressed. Complete the comparisons with key figures and accurately describe the changes, including the fall in gems and jewellery.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and the beginning of a detail paragraph. The sequence from describing the visuals to summarising the main features is understandable, and “Overall” and “On the one hand” signal transitions. However, the response ends mid-sentence, leaving the detailed account incomplete and preventing a clear progression through the categories. “On the one hand” also suggests a contrasting second point that never appears. Develop the body in a logical order, grouping categories that rose and fell, and use linking phrases only where they accurately show the relationship between ideas. A complete final paragraph would make the organisation more coherent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “exports,” “major earning category,” “significant change,” and “proportion change,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “demonstrates the information,” “major source of earning,” and “change in its proportion in values.” There are also spelling errors in “Petroelum” and “categoriy,” which reduce accuracy. Prefer precise chart language such as “shows export values,” “highest-earning category,” and “percentage change in export value.” Check spelling carefully, especially for the category names, and avoid repeating broad terms when a more exact description is available.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and a more complex comparison, for example, “while textiles recorded the least earning.” The introductory sentences are mostly understandable, but grammatical control is uneven. In “in every categories,” the determiner does not agree with the plural noun; “in each category” would be correct. “The one country’s exports value” also has an awkward possessive and noun structure, and “Petroleum products was” does not agree in number. The final sentence is incomplete, so it cannot communicate the intended comparison. Use a reliable range of complete sentence patterns, check subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms, and proofread articles and sentence endings before submitting.
