Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
The line graph illustrates earnings from one country's exports in few chosen categories in 2015 and 2016. The table illustrates percentage change in prices of chosen goods in 2015 and 2016.
Overall, the highest earnings in both years were from export of petroleum products, while the lowest from selling the textiles. The highest rise in the value of goods was noted in textilles, while gems and jewellery is the only group of products which value decreased.
In 2015, earnings from selling petroleum products were equal to around $70 billion, in comparisons to approximately $73 billion in 2016. When it comes to engineered goods the change was slightly bigger, with approximate earinings of $66 billion in 2015 and $70 billion in 2016. The smallest change was seen in agricultural products, with approximately earning of $41 billion and $42 billion, respectively. At the same time, the biggest change was noted in teh sale of texitles, with the profit of around $35 bilion in 2015 and $42 bilion in 2016. In general, the only category that recorded a decrease in 2016 compared with 2015 was diamonds and jewellery, with the profits of approx. $53 bilion and $51 bilion, respectively.
Execept for gems and jewellery, all other categories recorded increase in value in 2016 compared with 2015. The value of petroleum products in 2016 was 3% higher than in 2015, when it comes to engineered goods the change was equal to 8.5%, value of agricultural products and texitles, the value rose by 0.81% and 15.24%, respectively. The value of gems and jewellery decreased by 5.18%.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main pattern that petroleum products earned the most and textiles the least, and correctly note that gems and jewellery was the only category to fall. You also report the percentage changes accurately. However, several chart figures are substantially misread: for example, petroleum is about $61 billion in 2015 and $63 billion in 2016, not $70 billion and $73 billion; engineered goods are about $57 billion and $62 billion, not $66 billion and $70 billion. Agricultural products were roughly $31 billion in both years, rather than $41 billion and $42 billion. These inaccuracies weaken the supporting comparisons. Give a concise overview, then check each figure against the chart and distinguish the table’s percentage changes from the bar-chart values.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, a paragraph describing the chart, and a final paragraph covering percentage changes. This makes the information easy to locate, and phrases such as “Overall” and “At the same time” help signal relationships. However, the progression is not always smooth: the chart paragraph moves between categories without a consistent grouping, and the final paragraph repeats the point that gems and jewellery declined. Some linking is also awkward, particularly “when it comes to engineered goods the change was equal to 8.5%,” which interrupts the list of percentage changes. Grouping the largest values and smaller categories, then presenting the table figures in a parallel sequence, would make the comparisons more cohesive and reduce repetition.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “earnings,” “percentage change,” “recorded a decrease,” and “respectively.” These choices generally communicate the intended comparisons. However, several word-choice and spelling problems reduce precision: the table reports changes in export values, not “prices,” and “diamonds and jewellery” should be “gems and jewellery.” There are also repeated misspellings such as “textilles,” “texitles,” “bilion,” and “Execept,” alongside the less natural phrase “in comparisons to.” Prefer precise chart language such as “export value” and “rose by,” and proofread category names and common words carefully. More accurate collocations and spelling would make the vocabulary more controlled.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a relative clause in “the only group of products which value decreased” and comparison structures such as “higher than in 2015.” Most sentences remain understandable, and the response’s meaning is generally clear. Some grammatical errors persist, however. The opening says “in few chosen categories” rather than “in a few selected categories,” and “the lowest from selling the textiles” lacks a complete parallel construction. In “with approximate earning of $41 billion and $42 billion,” the noun phrase is not formed correctly, while “value of agricultural products and texitles, the value rose” creates a faulty sentence structure. Check articles, agreement, and sentence boundaries, and revise awkward clauses into complete, parallel comparisons.
